A note from Dr. David Olford

“Good day” in the Lord Jesus Christ!

I hope you are well in every sense of the word!

I’d like to share a personal word with you about our ministry. It may be that we can be an encouragement to you and a resource for you as you seek to do God’s will in these days. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry of God’s Word continues and must continue.

Indeed, this is a strategic time to be engaged in gospel and “Word” ministry! What an opportunity we have to preach Christ in all His fullness.

For almost 35 years it has been my privilege to serve the Lord with Olford Ministries International, Inc. I have had the opportunity, by God’s grace and goodness, to provide instruction and/or resources for God’s servants, especially those involved in the ministry of preaching and teaching God’s Word. It is very humbling as I look back, because it is God’s doing, and we praise Him for it.

Our primary goals have been to encourage and further equip those who desire to rightly divide the Word of truth in the power of the Holy Spirit. We have sought to do this by means of our own Institutes for Biblical Preaching, various seminars and conferences, preaching and teaching in various venues here and abroad, serving for a number of years as a professor of expository preaching, and through one-on-one interaction, etc.

I share these things because they are simply different aspects of the ministry over the years that God has given to us. And it has been our joy to serve inter-denominationally, inter-racially, and internationally. We are an independent evangelical ministry that holds to the inerrancy of the Holy Scriptures.

For almost 20 of these years, it was my privilege to serve with my father, Dr. Stephen Olford, before the Lord called him home to his reward. More recently I have enjoyed the partnership with Dr. Ted Rendall and we (including myself) have been blessed from his teaching and pastoral wisdom.

I could say a lot more about our doctrine, purpose, history, our affiliations, and even our library, but let me get to the point: how can we be of assistance to you?

Well, and I really mean this, that depends on your season in life and ministry. It depends on the needs or goals that you sense as you seek to grow in the Lord and in the ministry you have received from Him. I say this because our goal is to provide personal and practical input, helpful advice, as well as possible training and resources. In a sense, we seek to be a “Jonathan” ministry, a source of encouragement and strength as you face the challenges of the ministry that God has appointed you to fulfill now and in the future.

Here are some issues that we may be able to help you address:

  • Personal life and ministry concerns
  • Improvement in any aspect of sermon preparation or delivery
  • Planning your preaching and/or teaching ministry
  • Tackling a difficult subject biblically and pastorally
  • Help in assessing your “preaching ideas” or your actual preaching
  • Advice on academic projects dealing with Biblical or ministry subjects
  • Thinking through a ministry transition or new assignment
  • Discussing teaching or training options

Our actual training program (and we have six courses), addresses many of these issues and more, but the present season makes personal interaction more realistic and, Lord willing, just as profitable for you.

So, where do you begin, if you want to connect with us?

Email me at [email protected]

In North America, you can call me at 901-453-6444 (Leave a message if I do not answer, texting won’t work)

Meanwhile, you may want to view a session on “the definition of expository preaching” or view our whole online seminar on expository preaching on our website (olford.org). This seminar features videos by my father, Dr. Rendall, and myself. Register at no cost by clicking here.

At this point, you may be thinking about the costs involved. Of course, there is no cost for getting in touch and having an initial discussion. Costs will be agreed upon in relation to the time involved and resources used. We are grateful for ministry partners who sacrificially support this ministry, but your support by covering specific costs (as needed) will be most helpful as we seek to be good stewards of the resources of this ministry.

May God use you for His glory during these difficult days.

Sincerely and in Him,

David L. Olford, Ph. D.
