The Crisis of Serving [Joshua 24:15 and Joshua 24:19-25] — Crises of a Christian Series #5

References: Joshua 24:15 Joshua 24:19-25

We must choose whether God will be Lord of all or not Lord at all. There is no middle ground and we will choose - we must choose. Everything about your life & destiny is determined in this choice. You cannot run from this choice. You cannot hide from this choice. As we define what we mean by serving the Lord, it is important that we should notice every word that fell from the lips of Joshua that remarkable day. It is worthy of note that this was not a young man who was making some resolve about how he was planning to live out his life, but an older man who was ready to die stating an intention to continue what he had already lived out. He was thereby challenging others to live under the Lord’s mastery according to his personal example. As he stood there in Shechem, an historic place of destiny, ministry and sanctity, before all the tribes of Israel, at the age of one hundred and ten years, right before his death he said to the people, “Choose you this day whom you will serve...” (v. 15).
